Sustainable Livelihood in entrepreneurship
Entrepreneurship in livelihood entails the creation of the
production based on the investment in sellable products and services in the
sustainable manner. The entrepreneurship characterized by risk taking due to the
exploitation of the resources hoping to generate profit without knowing the
consequences may happen in between in the production process. For any one opts
to invest in the risky bases can be defined as the entrepreneur. Majority of
our community members now are employed in the private sectors meaning every one
own his/her business to generate income for livelihood. To sustain the
livelihood is to make the endless and growth of the production process.
In Bagamoyo - Chalinze community’s members are engaged in
the different enterprises which enable them to thrive in their live expenditure.
Majority are dealing with the farming products in rural villages producing the
different crops i.e. pineapples in Kiwangwa area, mangoes in Msoga area,
cassava in Mboga/Miono/Mandela villages. Pigeon pea, cow peas and green pea are
the most leguminous products in different areas. Sesame, sun flour and coconuts
are the oil plants cultivated inlands and cost areas. Maize and Sorghum are the
main serial crops.
The other group in the community members is the middlemen
who transport products and selling to the whole buyers. Farmers are receiving
the farm gate prices, which is very low to overcome the production costs. The
middlemen transport to whole buyers and main users in main market in Kariakoo Dar
Es Salaam. This group is mainly Youths who buy products from producers and sell
to the main user or the whole buyers who transport to industry for processing.
When you visit Chalinze town you can see the piles of
pineapples which are on sell. The pineapples are the seasonal products, but are
the main products which the Youths depending on for the income generation. Youths
fetch them from rural farms and bring to town for sell. These pineapples from
Chalinze areas are well distributed all over the country by transport them of
by means of travelers through the main roads joined id Chalinze as the main
junction. Most of the pineapples found in Dar Es Salaam, Morogoro, Dodoma,
Tanga, Moshi, Arusha, Namanga, Taveta and some towns in Kenya especially in
Cost area like Mombasa
The other groups of entrepreneurs are these who are dealing
with selling the industrial products. Are those who own the retailed shops,
wholesale shops and the retailers of the agricultural products on the market places.
The non conventional products are produced by the unique
Youth groups; that are converting used and rejected tins to ornamentally
products and children’s playing toes. Parts from trees are decorated in to pieces
of wood which made in the way of weapons and hand sticks that are very demanded
by the travelers.
In the peripheral of the town there are semi-pastoralists
and as agro pastoralists. They possess many of cows, goats, sheep and different
bird species. Animals are grazed in the natural pastures; and watered in
natural dams that are collecting water during the rain season. Sometimes are
forced to go far away finding pastures and water during the dry season. The
income depending on sells of animals to the middlemen who send to butchery or
outside the country. At the region there are no processing industries that can
add value to animal products.
Animals are like
cattle, goats, sheep and bird species which are the maim meat producing around
the areas. Cattle meat are sold in the butcheries, and live animals transported
to other places especially in Dar Es Salaam and even overseas, i.e. Yemen etc
The agricultural products like vegetable, serials, root
crops and legumes are found in market places in retailed forms. The
agricultural products which are daily uses are found in market in scattered
areas. Every place in the most villages or wards have marketing day per week
whereas farmers are collecting their products and selling to consumers and
traders.
Around the township there are some farmers who keep animals’
intensive system. Feeding and managing indoors. Farmers mostly are keeping
dairy cows and pigs in intensive systems. Farmers are depends on by product for
marketing of milk, meat, and bacon from pigs. The market is very high demanded
by consumers within the township. There are primary co-operatives collecting
milk every day and sell in Dar es Salaam to the businessmen and industrial
processing.
